I’d say it’s pretty safe. I traveled 2 years ago right after the Madrid bombings with my family and kids.Tourism there is highly developed. It’s a beautiful city to visit. I’m sure you’ll love it. Just use traveler common sense and you’ll be OK.
TIP: Don’t exchange you dollars for euros at the airport (It’s a rip off!). Use your ATM card to withdraw cash. You’ll get a better exchange rate!
Good Luck!
Definitely! Barcelona is a very safe city. Just be careful at night and always stay in the well populated areas. Use a money belt and just use your common sense.
I dont really know what do you think Spain is like, it is as safe as any other european country and 40 million tourists come every year.I think the only problem of coming alone is feeling TOO alone there.
Spain is safer thn USA!
I am from a village outside Barcelona, I have been going to the city on my own since I was a young teenager, never felt threatened, it’s a cosmopolitan city and everybody looks after their own business. It’s as safe as travelling can be, and it’s a lovely city! Worth visiting! If you are on your own, though, there are some areas I wouldn’t recommend for you to go at night, for example don’t book your hotel in the area west to La Rambla (dodgy area called Raval), it’s safe at day time, it’s not bad at night either, but I don’t think a woman should go there on her own when it’s dark. Apart from that, as any big touristic city, be aware of the pickpockets!!! Other than that, enjoy yourself! RECOMMENDED!

I don’t think it is safe for anyone anymore to travel anywhere alone.Take a good friend and have a ball.

Only if you constantly wear a shirt that says, “Don’t shoot. I’m Canadian.”

I agree with the second person who answered…It’s not that Barcelona is not safe, but traveling alone is never a good idea…
