The city tour bus that has three route in the city is probably the best way. The blue route focuses on the center of the city such as Gaudi buildings and the temple of the Sagrada Familia, some museums, El Mirador and las Ramblas just to name a few. The Red route focuses on the outer part of the city, to include the parks, zoo and the Olympic stadium. Finally, the green route stops by the beaches.

Id say get both. when I went I used the Turistic ticket to see the majority of the city and learn about the culture and whats going on becuase they do do a little presentation and explain alot. that was one day. and i got the barcelona card for the next few days to just travel around, go back to the places i saw while on the other bus. also look into private companies if you wanna do the tourist thing. we also took a private company and it was MUCH better than the other two becuase it included meals and excursions and the tour guides were awesome! have fun :)
