If your only requirement is it being cheap, then I would recommend walking or hitchhiking. Some university message boards have people looking for someone to share fuel costs.
Actually I’ve heard of people buying a used motorcycle in one city and then selling it in the next for near the money they paid. Of course you will have the expense of insurance and fuel. If you go this route then I would recommend buying one that is almost fully depreciated and is extremely reliable. Good luck.
It depends on how cheap you actually want to go, for practical purposes I prefer the discount European airlines, such as Air Berlin–my personal preference being Ryan Air (though admittedly Ryan Air often travels only to airports just outside of the major cities)
Well, if you don’t want to stop anywhere in between, I would also recommend flying because it will save you money on accomodations, and food.
That said, if you want to make an adventure out of it, get yourself a railpass (or decide to hitchike) and stay for FREE at people’s homes along the way.
To do so check out
this website connects people all over the world who are traveling–basically you sign up to find hosts, and in return, if some traveler is stranded near you in the future you open your home to them, if you can.

Probably via one of the European discount airlines. I like AirBerlin, but not sure if they fly to your destinations…
